ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS 2010
NSF Travel Grants for US-based Graduate and Undergraduate Students
As part of NSF's commitment to maintain United States' research competitiveness in important areas of Science and Technology, the organizers of ACM SIGSPATIAL'2010 are pleased to announce the 2010 ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS NSF Student Travel Grants to encourage more computer science students both at the graduate and undergraduate levels to attend and participate in the ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS 2010 Conference, November 2-5 2010, San Jose, California, USA. Each travel award will cover up to $1000 USD towards conference-travel related costs. We especially encourage minority and female computer science PhD students to apply. In addition, special consideration will be given to undergraduate students actively participating in research.
Selection Criteria
- The applicant must be students enrolled at a US University and pursuing a PhD degree or be a research-active undergraduate student in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or technical field related to conference topics.
- Priority will be given to students authors with accepted papers at ACM SIGSPATIAL GIS 2010.
- The recipients must register and attend the full conference.
- The funding will be used for student travel-related support only.

Application Process
To apply, undergraduate students must send an email by Friday September 17 to sywang at cs.ucsb.edu with subject heading "NSF ACMGIS 2010 Travel Grant" and containing a single pdf document with:
- your CV (containing your full name and e-mail address, current
address and contact phone number, and current GPA in the course-work).
- 1-page statement (no more than 600 words) about why you wish to attend the conference and why attending it is important to your research, work, and/or future career.
- A letter of nomination from the sponsoring faculty member.
To apply, PhD students must send an email by Friday September 17 to sywang at cs.ucsb.edu with subject heading "NSF ACMGIS 2010 Travel Grant" and containing a single pdf document with:
- your CV (containing your full name and e-mail address, current
address and contact phone number, and a list of publications).
- 2-page statement (no more than 1000 words) of research interests, current accomplishments, and future research plans.
- A letter of recommendation from the faculty advisor that clearly established the need for travel support.
